Colonel Josiah Warren Fuller was born in Baltimore, Maryland.
He attended Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic School thru the
eighth Grade. He then attended Glen Burnie Senior High School.
He later received an Associate Degree in Sociology from
the University of the State of New York.
He joined the Maryland Army National Guard in 1957. He spent
the first nine years of his military career as an enlisted
man, rising to the rank of Specialist 6 (E-6). His enlisted
assignments included Light Truck Driver. Additional assignments
included Nike Ajax Fire Control Mechanic and Nike Hercules
Fire Control Mechanic.
COL Fuller was commissioned through the Maryland National
Guard Officer Candidate School. His first assignment as
an officer was Platoon Leader of a Nike Hercules Battery.
He was later assigned as a Forward Observer, Liaison Officer
and S-2 in a 105MM Field Artillery Battalion. He then served
as Battalion Executive Officer of a Support Battalion. Following
that assignment, he served as Assistant S-3 of a Separate
Infantry Brigade, Commander of a Public Affairs Detachment,
Officer Personnel Manager, Executive Officer of a Troop
Command. COL Fuller finished his career as the Director
of Logistics for the Maryland Army National. His military
career spanned 39 years.
His military education includes Air Defense Officer Basic
Course, Field Artillery Officer Advanced Course, CBR Officer
Course, Missile Site Security Course, Airmobile Training,
Nuclear and Chemical Target Analysis, Personnel Officer,
Division Logistics System, Command and General Staff College,
Information Officer Course, National Security Management
and Director of Logistics Course.
Colonel Fuller's Decorations include the Legion of Merit,
Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army
Achievement Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster, Armed Forces
Reserve Medal with two Hourglass devices, National Defense
Service Medal with one star and the Army Service Ribbon.
Colonel Fuller is married to the former Berneice M. Gardner
of Pasadena, MD. They have been married for 41 years.
